Triviso has everything we need.

A lot achieved and still plenty to do: Widmann joinery in Donaueschingen-Neudingen is taking an interesting digital path. In doing so, foresight meets pragmatism and common sense. Since early 2021, the company has been relying on Triviso ERP software. The necessary transition was and is complex, but it brings the opportunity to reshape established processes and make them more efficient.

During my visit to the workshop in Neudingen, I am very warmly welcomed by company founder Hermann Widmann and his wife Monika, as well as managing director Jens Heide and project manager Mike Hirt. We chat in the special atmosphere of the newly renovated, listed exhibition building. Where I am sitting, customers normally take their seats. Around us are many material samples as well as a very large touch screen, on which future dreams of living and lifestyle are otherwise presented and perfected. Very impressive and inspiring. You feel at home straight away.

Continuous growth

In 1980, Hermann Widmann passed his master carpenter’s examination and, in 1984, set up his own business with a journeyman and an apprentice. Two years later, he built a workshop on his parents' property at the current site. Over the years, the premises have grown steadily and now cover an area of 1,600 m². The number of employees has grown just as steadily. Today, a total of 25 dedicated people plan, design and produce exclusively high-quality furniture and interior fittings with all desired functionalities and features, right down to lighting, fabrics and upholstery. Widmann is also a trainer out of conviction. As a rule, a young person starts their carpentry apprenticeship in Neudingen every year.

The interior and furniture design is developed personally with each client. Even in the planning phase, 3D visualisation provides a very realistic impression of the final product. This goes down well with both private customers and commercial clients, who entrust Widmann with the fitting out of doctors' surgeries, fitness studios, as well as schools and nurseries.

Flexible and powerful networker

Widmann specialised in panel processing in 2010. When solid wood is required, the joinery works with strong network partners. Conversely, the company also operates as a supplier of CNC parts for colleagues, for example.

For nine years, the design, planning, manufacturing and warehousing of fitness equipment – or more precisely, a very innovative mobility concept made of wood – has ensured a solid base workload in production in this area. The two Homag CNC machines run all day at Widmann. In terms of machinery, they are joined by a beam saw, an edge bander and the usual standard joinery machines.

Digitalisation: courses set

The main reason for my visit to the workshop is the topic of digitalisation. Jens Heide, master carpenter and, alongside Hermann Widmann, managing director for the past three years: „Two years ago, we reached the limits of our previous industry software and, after intensive market research, decided to invest in the ERP software Triviso.“
